The Covered Life Series
From knowing the gospel to living it.
SERIES INTRODUCTION
Three books. One underlying question: why is it so hard to live from what we already believe?
The Covered Life Series integrates biblical theology and evidence-based psychology for the sincere believer who knows the gospel and is exhausted by the gap between what they profess and how they live. Each volume addresses a different dimension of that gap — identity, pace, and suffering — and points toward the same grace that addresses all three.
The series can be read in sequence or as standalone volumes. Each book is complete in itself. Together they form a single arc: You are accepted. You can rest. You are being formed.

The Fig Leaf and the Cross: Uncovering Your Authentic Identity
You already know the gospel. You can recite it, teach it, and defend it. And yet something inside you still keeps score — still measures your standing with God by the quality of your last performance, still rises and falls with every success and failure.
This book traces the hiding to its roots in the fall and answers it with the specific theology of the Covenant of Grace. Through careful exegesis, honest personal testimony, and practical application, it moves the truth from the head into the daily lived experience of a person learning — slowly and imperfectly — to live from what grace has already declared.
The fig leaf was never sufficient. This book exists to help you live as though that is actually true.

The Hurried Soul: When God's Rest Feels Like a Threat
You are not tired. You are afraid to stop.
That distinction is the heart of this book. The Sabbath is not a rule to comply with. It is a gift God designed before any human being had grown tired enough to need it. This book addresses the theology of ceasing as trust — and the specific misbelief that makes rest feel dangerous rather than given.
The square is on the floor. This book is about why we keep walking around it — and what it costs us when we do.

Sustained in the Dark: What God Is Forming in Your Darkest Season
The wilderness you are in is not a detour from God's plan. It is a route — deliberately chosen, specifically purposed, and led by the same shepherd who leads beside still waters.
This book addresses the prolonged difficulty, the unanswered prayer, the thorn that remains despite everything brought to God about it. It traces the wilderness from its biblical foundation through the bread of affliction, the sufficient grace, and the covering that only the cross provides — and arrives at the new orientation available only to the person who has been sustained rather than simply rescued.
The darkness does not move the stars. And the darkness does not move the God who made them.

SERIES ARC SECTION
The Arc of the Series
Each book addresses the same person at a different point of struggle.
Book 1 answers the identity question: Your standing before God is settled. The verdict is not pending your next performance.
Book 2 answers the pace question: You are allowed to stop. The work that matters most has already been finished by someone other than you.
Book 3 answers the suffering question: The darkness is not wasted. God's intentionality extends into every season that feels like abandonment.
Together: I am not only accepted by God — I am being formed by Him, even in the darkest seasons.
