The Covered Life Series was written for the individual reader — but it was also written by someone who has spent decades in pastoral teaching and clinical practice. The integration of biblical theology and evidence-based psychology that shapes these books did not emerge from academic theory. It emerged from sitting across from real people in real difficulty and discovering that neither discipline alone was sufficient to reach them fully.

WHO THIS PAGE IS FOR
Pastors and Teachers The Covered Life Series addresses three of the most consistently under-addressed struggles in congregational life — the performance trap, the hurried soul, and the wilderness season. Each book is theologically grounded, accessible to a general audience, and structured for individual or group use. They work well as sermon series companions, congregational reading initiatives, or resources for pastoral care conversations.
Licensed Counselors and Therapists The series integrates evidence-based psychological frameworks with biblical theology in a way that is clinically informed without being clinically inaccessible. Licensed counselors working with Christian clients will find the books useful as between-session reading that reinforces therapeutic work without replacing it. The psychological concepts — core beliefs, rumination, schema activation, post-traumatic growth — are accurately presented and explained in accessible language.
Discipleship Directors and Small Group Leaders Each book is structured around a seven-chapter arc with reflection questions, application exercises, and a three-component weekly challenge embedded throughout. The content lends itself naturally to small group discussion, one-on-one discipleship, and structured study. A Leader's Guide for each volume is in development.
Biblical Counselors The series operates from a covenantal premillennial theological framework with a consistent emphasis on justification, sanctification, and union with Christ. Psychological concepts are presented as practical life skills for discipleship — not as clinical interventions and not as replacements for biblical truth. The theology governs throughout.
HOW THE BOOKS CAN BE USED
Individual Reading with Pastoral Follow-Up Assign one book as preparatory reading before a series of pastoral care conversations. The reflection questions at the end of each section give the person a structured way to engage the material before they sit down with you — and give you a natural entry point for the conversation.
Small Group Study Each chapter contains two sets of reflection questions and a three-component weekly application challenge. A group of six to eight people working through one chapter per week completes each book in seven weeks. The questions are designed to move from theological reflection to personal examination to practical application — a sequence that works well in a facilitated group context.
Counseling Companion Resource Assign specific chapters as between-session reading aligned with the presenting concern. Book 1 works well alongside identity and shame work. Book 2 works well alongside anxiety, burnout, and boundary work. Book 3 works well alongside grief, suffering, and meaning-making work.
Congregational Reading Initiative All three books are accessible to a general congregation without requiring theological or psychological background. They work well as a church-wide reading initiative — one book per quarter, with sermon content aligned to the book's themes.

A Leader's Guide for each volume is currently in development. The guides will include session objectives, discussion facilitation notes, and supplementary material for pastoral, counseling, and small group contexts.
